Chip Talk > SurplusGLOBAL's Ambitious SemiMarket Revolutionizes Semiconductor Part Transactions
Published June 10, 2025
In a bid to revolutionize how semiconductor equipment and parts are traded, South Korea's SurplusGLOBAL has unveiled the beta version of its new AI-driven online platform, SemiMarket. This transformation is set to change the conventional approaches to trading in the semiconductor space, leveraging decades of experience and data amassed by the company. According to PR Newswire, the initiative highlights a strategic pivot towards modern, digital solutions in an industry traditionally bound by legacy practices.
For 25 years, SurplusGLOBAL has been a cornerstone supplier in the semiconductor equipment space, with thousands of parts and equipment sold globally. This historical knowledge base is now instrumental in the formation of the SemiMarket platform. By employing advanced artificial intelligence to enhance the interaction between buyers and sellers, the platform aims to create a more efficient, transaction-focused experience, rather than a mere search-based one.
The decision to shift from the existing marketplace on www.SurplusGLOBAL.com to SemiMarket marks a significant technological leap. While the former will transition to predominantly offering corporate information, the latter will become a dynamic hub for global commercial activities.
Commencing in June, the beta version of SemiMarket serves as a proprietary store. Initially, SurplusGLOBAL itself will act as the central seller, commercializing and remarketing client products. This period allows SurplusGLOBAL to fine-tune the platform's functionalities before the grand launch.
Scheduled for December, the grand opening of SemiMarket will pave the way for a marketplace powered by its global users. Sellers will have the liberty to register directly and manage their sales in a seller-driven ecosystem. This open market concept is designed to empower sellers, enabling them to create self-directed brand stores that cater to global consumers.
In tandem with the online platform, SurplusGLOBAL is solidifying its physical transaction infrastructure with the SemiMarket Parts Mall in Yongin-si, South Korea. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to support the online platform with offline services, including parts storage, exhibition, and refurbishing. By May 2026, this 39,600 square meters facility will provide comprehensive, one-stop services, a true testament to SurplusGLOBAL's commitment to an integrated trade ecosystem.
Bruce Kim, CEO of SurplusGLOBAL, describes SemiMarket as the culmination of years of planning and dreaming. This platform is aimed at dismantling the inefficiencies of legacy markets while fostering a global network of partners. With the advent of AI facilitating trading processes, the company is well-poised to leave a significant mark on the industry landscape.
With these strategic enhancements, SurplusGLOBAL is not only expanding its service offerings but is primed to lead the charge into a digitized future of semiconductor equipment trading. Whether online or offline, SemiMarket positions itself as a pioneering force in reimagining traditional market modalities.
